Therapeutic effects
Different parts of this plant including leaves, flowers and roots are used as medicine. This plant has anti-cough, anti-gastric inflammation, anti-tumor and anti-viral properties. The use of Mallow is suitable for reducing the effects of colds and inflammation of the respiratory, urinary and digestive tracts, as well as the treatment of skin pimples. The combination of Mallow with garlic and chamomile is used in the treatment of dryness and skin abnormalities. According to Iranian traditional medicine, Mallow has a moderate nature and thins dense phlegm and moderates watery phlegm.

Pharmacological effects and mechanism of action:
The compounds found in the root of the cheese plant, including anthocyanin, deoxybenzoic acid and cyanidin, reduce blood sugar. Researches has shown that the flavonoid compounds found in the root of this plant can be effective in reducing the complications of diabetes by improving the activity of the catalase enzyme and inhibiting the alpha-amylase enzyme. Research has proven that the compounds in Mallow prevent the formation of blood clots in the veins and reduce the occurrence of cardiovascular diseases. It has also been found that Mallow extract has an effect on sperm and the stages of spermatogenesis and changes the morphology of cells and causes an increase in the number of primary spermatocytes and sperm. Based on the evidence, the antibacterial effects of this plant on microorganisms have been proven, and it has been determined that this plant can be used as an antiseptic to eliminate antibiotic-resistant microbes. Using Mallow extract as a gargle to relieve irritation of the oral mucosa and sore throat, as well as boiling it as a warm compress is used to relieve burns and hemorrhoids and eyelid swelling.
The main and medicinal ingredients:
The Mallow contains linolenic, linoleic, palmitic and oleic fatty acids. Its flower extract contains calcium, magnesium, amino acids serine and alanine, hydroxyproline, glucuronic acid, galacturonic acid, anthocyanin, ferulic acid and galactose. Also, Mallow flowers contain mucilage, tannin, and resinous substances. This plant contains large amounts of vitamins A, B, C, and E. There is a color substance called Malvin in the flower of this plant which is used commercially in drugs used to strengthen the nervous system and in anti-asthma drugs. Consuming this herb in diabetics may lower blood pressure. So far, there have been no reports of plant toxicity in humans.
