Pharmacological effects and mechanism of action:
The presence of flavonoid and iridoid compounds in the extract of this plant is responsible for antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects. The inhibitory effects of flavonoids on acute and chronic inflammation are due to their effect on signaling pathways including nuclear factor kappa B activity and MAP lichenase phosphorylation.
In addition, flavonoids reduce the accumulation of floating lipids, which are essential for pain signaling, thus, flavonoids reduce chronic and acute inflammation by inhibiting the accumulation of receptors and the signaling cascade.
The estrogenic compounds in Stachys lavandulifolia extract occupy the estrogen receptors and reduce the function of estrogen, which can reduce the complications caused by increased estrogen in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome. Apigenin in this plant is an estrogenic flavonoid and its estrogenic properties have been proven.
